Very Rev. Fr.David A.Cockson, M.Div., M.S.W., NACC, EOKHSJ

Pastor

I was appointed to be Pastor of St. Ignatius Martyr by Archbishop Joseph E.Kurtz, D.D. on June 22, 2016. In my free time, I enjoy laughter with friends; walking; going to art galleries and museums; learning daily factoids, about all things Kentucky; reading spiritual/psychological books; and, exploring the richness that Eastern Orthodox and Catholic spirituality affords me as an opportunity to deepen my spiritual life. It is my hope that in 2017 to begin offering “healing services” periodically at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church. On my personal “bucket list,” is to travel to Rome and also Europe, in order to make pilgrimages to the many holy sites of Christendom.  I would also hope to travel to the Holy Land one day.

Lucio Caruso, B.A., M.A.P.T

Permanent Deacon

Deacon Lucio Caruso was born in Italy, and came to the United States when he was a year and a half old. Both his parents are deceased. He is an only child and has been married to Therese Carroll Caruso for 30 plus years. Two grown sons, and three grandchildren live in Grand Rapids Michigan. Deacon Lucio got his B.A. in Theology and Social Science at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids Michigan, where he served in parishes and within the diocese of Grand Rapids for 32 years in a number of capacities from education, pastoral ministry, and social service. He earned a Masters in Pastoral Theology from Saint Mary of the Woods College in Terra Haute Indiana. Deacon Lucio and his wife have been here in Louisville for the last 10 years. He currently serves as Director of Mission for Catholic Charities and previously served as director of our local social service programs. Deacon Lucio was ordained on 8/21/2010 as a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese and was assigned to Epiphany Catholic Church up until his new assignment to Saint Ignatius Martyr. Deacon Lucio is known for his joyful humor. He loves music and singing, which as a Caruso, comes very naturally. He is a creative preacher who excites people about our faith and putting it into practice in today's world. We are very happy to welcome Deacon Lucio to our community on July 1, 2018.
